Sky-Lights started out as a memorial event for those lost to us by suicide, but we have had so many people ask if they can take part to remember their own loved ones who passed for illness, accident or natural causes, that we have opened the event on 10th September 2017 to anyone who wants to take part.
As usual we ask for a €10.00 donation to support the Schools Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention work carried out by Youth Suicide Prevention Ireland around the country. The €10.00 donation includes the cost of the Sky-light itself. If you would also like to support the work of another registered charity as part of the Night of Lights on 10th September then you can select your nominated charity from the list on the registration page and we will donate €2.00 to that charity on your behalf, or on behalf of a departed loved one.
The sight of thousands of Sky Light lanterns rising over villages, towns and cities across Ireland at 12:01am on 10th September will not only be an amazing thing to see but will stand as a testament to the memory of those that we have lost.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there... I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow...
I am the diamond glints on snow...
I am the sunlight on ripened grain...
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of gentle birds in circling flight...
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry—
I am not there... I did not die...
